The singer recently met her idol at the Melbourne Grand Prix in Australia. She was there to sing the national anthem, but it didn’t go quite to plan as she experienced microphone problems. Although she was embarrassed, the 18-year-old says chatting to John made it all better.
“It was really scary, I was really excited and really nervous about it,” she explained on British programme GMTV earlier today. “Going on to the track there were all the cars there behind me ready to go. I sang the national anthem and they forgot to turn my microphone on, in TV land, so nobody heard me! But I got a kiss from John Travolta so it’s all OK. It was pretty good.”
Gabriella has been promoting her new album Ten in recent weeks, which has a more disco feel than her other work. She was inspired by Donna Summer when she recorded it, and loves singing the tracks live.
The star is currently supporting Leona Lewis on her UK tour, which she says is a dream come true.
“It was really cool, it was really fun last night. We were in Liverpool, the crowd were pretty cool,” she enthused. “But we had an awful drive back to London last night. It’s pretty long – four hours. But I’m here bright and early!”
